Through computer vision, we taught the computer to recognize Bossche bulbs. Fat, isn't it?!

At D-Data, we are always finding and testing new techniques. With this in mind and in honor of our brand new office in Den Bosch, we therefore have a object detection model created. And one that, through Convolutional Neural Networks can detect a Bossche Bol, the well-known chocolate pastry, in moving images. Convolutional Neural Networks are currently a state-of-the-art method with regard to object detection and image classification/segmentation. This is therefore already being used in many sectors, for example in the automated assessment of CT scans in healthcare. Our object detection model, specifically based on the Faster-RCNN modell, after extensive training, was able to detect Bossche Bollen with great certainty in video images. This fun campaign ultimately got us regional attention in the news, as seen in the video below.
